1 – How did you end up on Tinted Windows?

I’ve know Adam, James and Taylor for years. I also play guitar with one of Adams other bands “IVY”. We’ve spent a lot of time on the road together during IVY tours so that’s how he came to ask me to do this.

1 – Como você foi parar no Tinted Windows?

Eu conheço o Adam, James e Taylor há anos. Tocava guitarra com uma das bandas de Adam “IVY’’. Passamos muito tempo juntos na estrada em turnê com o IVY, então ele me chamou para participar da banda.

2 – Before you join Tinted Windows, did you used to listen the main bands of the guys?

Absolutely. I am a huge fan of all of the guys other bands. I started to listening Cheap Trick when I was 5 years old and they’re one of the band I learned how to play rock and roll too!

2 – Antes de entrar no Tinted Windows, você escutava a banda de cada integrante?

Com certeza. Sou muito fã das bandas de todos eles. Comecei ouvindo Cheap Trick quando tinha 5 anos de idade e foi com ela que aprendi a tocar rock and roll!

3 – What did you think about this parallel project of the guys?

I love it. Great songs, great people, and it rocks. There’s plenty of down time in the music business and it makes sense to do other things and stay productive.

3 – O que você acha desse projeto paralelo?

Eu o amo. Ótimas músicas, ótimas pessoas e é muito bom. Chega uma hora no mundo da música em que faz sentido fazer outras coisas e continuar produtivo.

4 – Do you plan to keep playing with Tinted Windows on their next shows?

I will be there for all the upcoming shows.

Estarei lá nos próximos shows.

5 – On your myspace, you say that played with artists like The Lemonheads, James Taylor, Ben Kweller, Nina Gordon, and others. How do you feel playing with all this differents musicians which all have their own styles?

It’s been very cool. There are lots of different styles I love, but all this stuff I play is rock and roll in one form or another. It’s always felt right.

5 – Você disse no Myspace que tocou com artistas como James Taylor, Ben Kweller, Nina Gordon e outros. Como foi tocar com esses músicos que possuem seu próprio estilo?

Tem sido muito legal. Existem vários tipos de música que eu curto, mas de uma forma ou de outra, em todos eles toquei rock and roll. Sempre foi a coisa certa.

6 – Tell us about your musical influences.

When I was really young I listened to Cheap Trick, Rolling Stones, Led Zeppellin and Kiss, now that I’m older I listen to Cheap Trick, Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin and Kiss! Seriously though, I grew up listening to those but tons of others and I love it all so much. A lot of mainstream stuff when I was young, a lot of Jazz and indie rock when I was in College and then anything and everything. The Cars, Wilco, Black Flag, Nirvana, Kings Of Leon, Willie Nelson, Grateful Dead, Miles Davis, Pavement, Velvet Underground, AC/DC, everything Motown, the Beatles, etc…

6 – Fale um pouco sobre suas referências musicais.

Quando eu era pequeno, escutava Cheap Trick, Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin e Kiss. Hoje em dia eu escuto Cheap Tirck, Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin e Kiss! É sério, cresci escutando essas bandas, mas existem outras que gosto muito. Escutava muitas bandas que estavam na moda quando era menor, muito Jazz e Rock Indie quando estava no colegial e tudo mais. The Cars, Wilco, Black Flag, Nirvana, Kings os Leon, Willie Nelson, Grateful Dead, Miles Davis, Pavement, Velvet Underground, AC/DC, Motown, Beatles etc.

7 – Do you know anything about brazilian music?

I love the tradional Bossa Nova and Samba grooves. Joao Gilberto made a big impression on me when I was checking out a lot of Jazz. Also, Little Joy (which has Fab from The Strokes in it and Rodrigo Amarante who is from Brazil) are amazing. Do they count?Can we call them a Brazilian band? I love them. I know it’s not music but I LOVE Brazilian BBQ. Maybe as much as music….

7 – Você conhece a música brasileira?

Eu adoro a Bossa Nova tradicional e o Samba de raiz. João Gilberto me impressionou muito quando eu estava pesquisando sobre o Jazz. Tem também o Little Joy (que tem o Fab do Strokes e o Rodrigo Amarante que são brasileiros) são muito bons. Eles contam? Podemos chamá-los de banda brasileira? Eu os adoro. Sei que não é música, mas EU AMO o churrasco brasileiro! Talvez até na mesma intensidade que a música…

8 – Do you have your own band? If you don’t, do you plan to have one someday?

I just finished recording an album. It will be my first. I played most of the instruments on it except the drums which were played by John Kent (Ben Kweller). There are a few cool guest spots including James Iha on one song. I think I’m going to release it under the name The Candles. What do you think of that name?

8 – Você tem sua própria banda? Se não, planeja montar uma algum dia?

Eu acabei de gravar meu primeiro álbum. Toquei praticamente todos os instrumentos, exceto bateria que foi o John Kent (Ben Kweller). Tem algumas participações especiais, tipo o James Ilha em uma das músicas. Acho que vou lançá-lo com o nome The Candles, o que acha?

9 – On your myspace, you also says that is always looking foward to do more. What would be that more?

I just hope to continue recording and performing with the great bands and solo artists of the quality that I’m become used to. I feel like I’ve been spoiled. I want to do this forever.

9 – Você disse que está sempre olhando para frente, procurando algo mais, o que seria esse mais?

Eu espero continuar gravando e tocando com grandes bandas e artistas solo que possuem as sonoridades com que estou acostumado. Acho que tenho sido mimado. Quero fazer isso para sempre.

10 – How do you see the independent music scene? Tell us about it.

Wow. It’s just huge. Way bigger than it ever was. The web really makes that possible. It a very level playing field right now. I like to see this power shift in favor of the artists. Major labels are less relevant these days. Thats a great thing for the world of indie music.

10 – Como você vê o cenário independente?

Uau! Isto é gigante. Maior do que já foi. A internet torna as coisas mais fáceis. Eu gosto de ver esse poder nas mãos dos artistas. As gravadoras são menos relevantes hoje em dia, isso é uma coisa muito boa para o mundo independente.

11 – What do you think about Hanson music? Did you know about their history?

Love em. As a band, as guys, they’re just the coolest. They were so good from such an early age. You don’t see that too much. I know a good deal about their history but I didn’t see them until about 2003 but I was very aware of their music up until then. When I first started playing with Ben Kweller he hadn’t gone solo yet and it was a band called Radish. Radish were on Mercury Records as was Hanson, so we were label mates for a while. If you lived on Earth in 97 and 98 you knew exactly who Hanson were. That was an amazing thing to see.

11 – O que você acha da banda Hanson? Você conhece a história deles?

Adoro eles. Como banda, como pessoas, eles são fodas. Eles já eram ótimos quando crianças, você não vê isso todo dia. Eu faço alguma idéia sobre a história deles, mas não tinha os visto até 2003 mais ou menos, estava muito por fora da música deles até então. Quando comecei a tocar com o Ben Kweller, ele ainda tinha uma banda, o Radish, que era da Mercury Records, que era a mesma do Hanson, então fomos colegas de gravadora por um tempo. Se você morou na Terra em 1997 e 1998, então você sabe quem é Hanson. É uma coisa muito boa de se ver.

What’s up Brazilian Tinted Windows fans! I want to meet you all in Brazil soon over some delicious Brazilian BBQ. Can we do that?
