Show TinWin DC
Posted by Bond# Tinted Windowns DC - August 2009
By Mariangela Proença
The Tinted Windows played a very hot night on Wednesday at the Black Cat, a home of alternative music in Washington, DC.
The show was scheduled to start at 20h, arrived in the nick of time, but the house was still closed and with a pretty big queue outside. After about twenty minutes we entered the opening band (U.S. Royalty), even very good, began to play. I think Taylor Hanson and his troupe came on stage 21.30 each, and small but
noisy crowd was delirious.
I'm sure you will not be surprised to hear say that the band plays very well. There are many people who do not care about live shows, but I at least am boring about it and I can say that the acoustics of the place and the band formed a perfect partnership. It happened once Taylor's voice disappear, but it was for a few seconds in the middle of a song, but due to some technical error that was quickly
repaired. I can not tell much about the repertoire, I know the band a little while, then I recognized when they played "Kind of a Girl," "Dead Serious" and "Messing with my head." Not necessarily in that order, but that is what I remember.
I'm a fan of Hanson for a long time, even though I was half out of the news of them lately, I was impressed with the public, because only watched one show of them in Sao Paulo and remember it was a totally different experience: teenagers screaming groupies, girls camped at the door of Credicard Hall (the venue), pushing and shoving, crying etc..
Taylor is my favorite, so for me it was very exciting to see him in a different spot: more adult, singing center stage, more rock'n'roll. The audience was diverse, there were people of all ages. Couples' tiozões ", emos, hairy, Clueless and logical, Hanson fans. There was even a girl with the Hanson symbol tattooed on his back. Oh, and of course the groupies were also present in the first row of the stage. The place is small, the checkered floor and underground. Despite the long line at the entrance, the place is not filled, and I loved it because I watched the show closely, with no one pushing.
Anyway, after about an hour and a half, without flash, because flash photography was prohibited, but with much shouting, whistling and cheering the "Glass-smoke" left the stage.
